Music (Piano lessons that’s included in the tuition, Art (New Media Art, Painting, Film Making, Pixel Art, etc.), Technology (Robotics, Programming, 3D-Printing, Skype-A-Scientist, etc.), and inside/outside play (team building activities, board games, Minecraft Education, Keva Planks, Legos, Role play, etc.)

Yes, we do pickup from middles schools (Blue Ridge MS and Harmony MS) have programs for middle school students that’s coupled with enrichment programs: Math and Reading+Writing). If the student chooses to be part of the regular after-school, we can accommodate that as well.

Every child is unique and gifted. We try our best to tailor to student needs whether it’s addressing areas of weakness or embracing areas of strength.

The low teacher to student ratio facilitates us to pay invidual attention. Though it is not one-on-one instruction, we try our best to go around and help. You can always sign-up for our Reading+ Writing or Math enrichment options that can help your child if he or she needs further help.

We are not huge advocates of testing. That said, we are also realists and understand that students eventually need to take a scholastic test or two when applying for college. We have partnered with ACT Aspire and once every year, most of our 3rd grade and above students take a series of 5 tests viz. Reading, Writing, Science, Math and English. The college readiness index from the results give the students, parents and our teachers an insight into strengths and weaknesses so that we can address them accordingly. This helps them prepares them for the actual ACT test that they take in their high school years.

Elementary School:
$100 (4 weeks) – Math or Reading+Writing
$175 (4 weeks) – Math & Reading+Writing

Program runs from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Students are welcome to stay at Nextide until 6 pm with full access to the computer lab to continue working or to do homework.
If you need pickup from school at 2:35 pm, it will be considered as after-school care and regular after-school rates will apply. Please consider the 1 or 2 day after-school option + Enrichment upgrade.

Middle School:
$100 (4 weeks) – Math or Reading+Writing
$175 (4 weeks) – Math & Reading+Writing

We take pride in saying that we are one of the most flexible programs. We are huge advocates of our students getting exposed to many activities. If we do not offer those activities, by keeping our program and number of days flexible, we encourage them to enroll through outside providers . There are many of our students who either play a sport or do an outside activity while attending Nextide Academy.

We use an app called BrightWheel and we use it for tracking attendance, check-in/check-out, medication administration, learning, incidents, pictures/videos, announcements, etc. Parents can download the app on their smart phones to start receiving push notifications.

We have nice playground and as long as it’s not too hot or cold, we get at least 30-45 minutes of outside play.

Our program strives at being a well-rounded program. We have extended the Finnish Early Childhood Education and Care model into our after-school. Through our activities we cover the following areas: Rich world of languages, Diverse forms of expression, Me and our community, Exploring and interacting with my environment, and I grow, move and develop

Students arrive at around 2:55 pm every day (Middle Schoolers at 3:45 pm). We let our students unwind from a long day at school as they socialize while having a snack. Followed by 30 minutes of home work time, 45 minutes of power hour of learning / Project Based Learning, 30 minutes of outside play (depending on the weather), 30 minutes of Education City and then end the day with free play (or any of the station based activity of choice). We have other programs that rotate throughout the week/month depending on the activity. Examples of activities: 15 minutes of one-on-one music instruction on Mon or Tue, Skype-A-Scientist once every month, Technology (Robotics/TinkerCad), Art (Pixel Art, Decoupage, Film making, Painting/Sketching)

Our teacher to student ratios are one of the best for any after-school in the county. We not exceed more than 10-12 students per teacher and under 10 on most occasions.

We have designed our after-school based on the Early Childhood Education & Care model from Finland giving an opportunity for every student to explore multiple areas from arts to academics to technology. Students will have an opportunity to pick their stations as they develop skills and also an affinity towards that area.

We are an accredited online school first. All our after-school students are enrolled into our K-5 online curriculum. We use the same to either help them improve in struggling areas or to add depth to their areas of strength.
